OK, the airfield is situated on a small hill so the approach to landing from both ends of the runway is clear. There could be some down draft when approaching from the west. Nothing major, unless you are flying a very light aircraft and your approach is slow and low. However, this is a rare situation since the wind is always blowing an easterly course. So your approach from the east will enjoy a flat land and plenty of ground effects before reaching the threshold.

Captain, by all means, you are welcome to come and check things out anytime. Please let me know when.

As far as what we are expecting, let me tell you what we are planning, event wise, so maybe this will trigger some ideas.
By default we have to make a big deal out of this event, we are in Zahle after all. So here are the highlights:
1- We have invited the Minister of Tourism as well as the local officials to sponsor and be present at this event.
2- We are in the process of getting pledges from business to sponsor 3 prizes for the top 3 best pilots that will be voted on during the event.
3- There could be some wind, therefore, very light aircraft maybe grounded after 12:00am.
4- The Lebanese Air force may also take part in the show
5- There will be a paraglider's show as well, so we need to factor that in, I prefer that we start the event with them and have the floor/air for your guys thereafter.
6- Last but not least, we have invited all local and some GCC based media for coverage. In all honesty, this was the reason for postponing the event because most of them are busy covering the election in the north this coming weekend.

So having said that, you will be in the spot light, you will have fun, and am sure you can impress the hell of everyone. Now what are my expectations, I have none because you have already over-exceeded them CAPTAIN Very. But I can make some suggestions:
1- Heavy aircrafts that may not require runway length of more than 100m.
2- Helicopters
3- Some display, if you would like, but please note that we may have some space limitations
4- Fly in Formation
5- Best Pilot Competition. You tell me which maneuvers to be performed and how the rating should be done.
6- Free flights, past 11:30.
7- Continue flying all day, wind permitting.
8- Enjoy the BBQ and beer that will be provided by PHOENIX RC
9- Bring your own chair/picnic table

Thanks for the info Phoenix Thumbs Is there any 12V D.C outlet in the Pitts area ?
So guys it is very important to know who is going to participate in this event , i suggest also to go up with some pilots preferably in the morning to see out the prevailing wind ,direction and velocity between 10Am and noon . I can do this but i need somebody with me !

DanyG, Security is a concern, we have a group of boyscouts to secure the premises and permit only pilots on the field. The area is open and the no fly zone, basically north of the field, will be designated as viewing area. So while the scouts are ensuring that the public be restricted in the no fly zone, pilots are also requested to keep their activities in the fly zone area east, south and west of the runway.

Phoenix , the 12 V outlet is for fast charging Lipo Batt. . It's not mandatory but will help " just in case ! ". Concerning Frequency board , most of us are on 2.4G . But we will check this as soon as we will know who is going to participate ! Is there any other pilots participating in the event Question If so , then we will need a frequency board that we can provide , a very nice one Wink

Wrong Imad, The roaad from Bikfaya/Mrouj will take us to Zahle before ChtauraLaughing Anyway you do as you like.
On the other hand beleive, we should set a few things straight to have at a minimum of organization for this day.
Need to have a clear list of all participants and models to be flown.
Sequences have to be discussed to have minimum dead time and maximum effect.
Undersigned will have: 35% Extra 300, Double Vision and Boomerang Intro.
Suggest to have:
1- Pete and Roger fly their Air-
Wolfs Heli in a nice soft scale formation (a program defining a few figures is a must) coordination between the 2 pilots will make things easier.
2- We also have, Guyo on the 40% Edge for a nice solo show,
3- Hady and I hopefully for a flight with the Extras
4- A limbo sequence and or foam sticks cutting are greatly appreciated by crowds (Foam and creppon is needed) Georges Eid to the rescue.
5- A 3D Heli Show (pilot and sequence to be discussed).
6- War birds dogfight sequence (a minimum of 4 warbirds) with crepon tail to catch.
6- suggest to have a sequence with 4 or 5 (50cc and up airplanes)
7- dreaming of a flight with the 2 Boomerangs Intro (message to alexus.....it's still not too late).
This is a small sample of can be done simply but efficiently.

Let us have your feedback

Suggest we held a meeting during this week to

Roger,
It may be a bit "unfair" to ask Serge to fly a sedate heli carrying a flag! I would reserve his flight to show the most impressive handling capability of helis!
How about Samih Khater? He sure is a talented heli pilot.
Furthermore it is also unfair to ask Serge to fly under the AmazRC banner as he is after all the owner of the "Big Boy's Toys" store and surely he would appreciate recognition of that fact!

hi guys , hope that meeting will be as expected knowing that there will be only 3 hours of flight time , so i suggest that presence of amaz people as well as their models be present . but at the same time you need to create sequence as dany mentioned before and that should be done and agreed before saturday in order to train and take advantage of these few hours .
please note that this runaway is high on altitude and windy .

Would also like to set a few targets to be discussed during the meeting.
Beleive we should set some targets which are as follows:
1- Security is our number 1 concern, no matter what.
2- We aim to 0% crash risk (i.e. doing a show does not necessarily mean putting our equipment at risk)
3- As a team, some of us (hope all of us) will fly and many will act as helpers in alternance. Beleive this is our chance to show some professionalism.
4- After assesment of the conditions in Zahle, we can make final readjustment in line of above points.
5- Never forget that we are doing this for the love of this hobby and should keep our spirit up and have fun!!!Laughing

Hi Guys,I just came from Serge Shop,I have his confirmation about participation with a Trex700 3D Show,he also directly agreed about the 2 Helis/Flag opening and he suggested we do a test because it's very critical to hold a steady hover without any Heli pulling the other Heli and losing balance, also he suggested we can try to rotate the Flag by keeping one Heli pirouetting slowly in place and the other one moving in a circular motion, also I told him about the 7am Bikfaya Rendez-Vous and he have no problem.

Air-Wolf, thanks for the info. Maybe i wrongly expressed myself when i talked about 2 Helis displaying Lebanese flag, i simply meant that each Heli would have it's individual flag hanging underneath it. Simple and colorful with 0% risk...
For guidance sake had done on the old days a simple mechanism that would deploy the flag in synchronization with Anthem start.

Excellent job Roger. Thanks for your efforts. This is a very good start and we should add details to it to help everyone see with the same eyes and be aware at anytime of what is going on during the show.

Need Jad to get in touch with undersigned to coordinate music sequences.

Any update as who is going to handle the microphone??

We should also add a couple of back up sequences to fill in any dead time or if any of the above sequences would have a hickup Wink

OH i got so excited i forgot to ask my question. Please let me know the total number of amaz pilots significant others/guest that will join us on Sunday. Thanks.

Jad, the music should be saved on a regular audio CD, unfortunately MP3s are not supported.

Hadi, the walkie-talkie system requested is not available in zahle. Very I heard that Fadi Adams has a system, can we check with him? I will try again tomorrow and will keep you posted.

Great Wassim, by the way tomorrow I will have the Flags, I'll try to get different models to try them.
Please we need the confirmation from Hisham and Said if they are participating in the Warbirds additional sequence in order to adjust the Program.
(Maybe someone can call them and confirm it)

phoenix the walkie-talkie system is very basic its the small 300 meter system sold by motorolla or any other cheap brand

A helicopter in flight is a “bunch of spare parts flying in close formation.”

The following songs-music (and a whole lot more) are already on hand :
- Lebanese National Anthem (2 versions)

You can have a glance on Saturday, and any additional music anyone may like can be added provided they supply the tracks!

Hey Guys,

Now that "the dealing is done" - as Kenny Rogers song goes, it is nice to note the commentary that the Al Balad newspaper made to the effect that no one in the audience got bored listening to the National Anthem entirely! That is indicative of the level of interest the audience showed. Indeed the show was splendid and in spite of everything, the AmazRC group did an excellent job and I am proud to belong to this group!
