Felix Heinrich Wankel (August 13, 1902 - October 9, 1988) was a German mechanical engineer and the inventor of the Wankel engine, a rotary internal-combustion engine in which a triangular rotor turning in a specially shaped housing performs the functions allotted to the pistons of a conventional engine, thereby allowing great savings in weight and moving parts.

Thanks Peter, in fact I only rushed the test of the engine and the attached airplane is only a test bed. Hope to find a suitable airplane for this engine, it is extremely reliable and powerhouse at the same time with a beautiful sound.

Alex, Why the rotary engines could not find popularity? although they are low vibration also.

RC wise this .30 Wankel cost $450 compared to $140 for.35 AX from OS

Avo, will do some more research on the subject, but to date Mazda's RX series cars are all powered by Wankels like RX7, RX8 and the latest RX9 has a very advanced wankel and currently they are using it with hydrogen fuel, it is much more durable and reliable than piston engines when powered by hydrogen.

Wankel Engine Disadvantages:
1- Sealing and efficiency, it is more difficult to seal the 3 different chambers in the wankel as opposed to a simple application of a piston ring in a piston engine. Seals are less than perfect result in a less efficient engine.
2- Those engines generally have shorter life that ordinary piston engines.
3- Slow Combustion, Although the air-fuel are better mixed, the combustion chamber is big and, more important "moving". This causes the "squeeze stream", which prevents the flame from reaching chamber trailing side – especially at high rotor speeds. The exhaust stream is therefore, enriched with unburned mixture and carbon monoxide.
4- Pollution and Fuel Consumption, the Wankel Engine is not "green" at all. In fact, it's level of pollution is very high. Also, in general, Wankel engines consume more fuel than regular piston engines.
5-Price, since the manufacturing volumes of engine parts are relatively low, they tend to be more expensive.

Skywalker , i would never invest 450$ for this engine ! I don't think you will enjoy it very much ! I was not at all impressed by his performance !

I Dont know what Im Doing but im an Expert at it ! Whether im right or im wrong I'm still the captain!

A helicopter in flight is a “bunch of spare parts flying in close formation.”
