Fellow Pilots, Zahle and the Bekaa are hungry for more. Are you ready?
Due to the amazing and overwhelming response to the great show put by you guys few weeks ago, I have been asked by the Kuwait TV representative and Future TV if another show can be arranged in the next few weeks to be covered by these media giants. To elevate the exposure of this great hobby into the international arena, I have promoted the idea to Aljazeera network and Reuters for their coverage as well. I hate to keep bugging you guys, but I thought joining hands again may help promote the hobby further. If you are interested, please let me know asap so I can coordinate with the media representatives and setup a date for the show. If we move forward, we will have a BBQ and lots of beer on the premises (please allow 1.5 hours bottle to throttle). Wind conditions in Zahle have improved, so we may get an all day activity going. This will also include RC cars and trucks for those who might be interested. Thank you in advance and I shall look forward to seeing you soon.

Hi Guys ! We are all concerned about this : as we are overcrowded up there ,we start having noise problems with the neighbourhood ! If we want to keep our only runway , we shouldnt overfly the village and keep our evolutions on the western part of the airfield and observe a stop from 1 to 4 pm .Electric is no problem ( Except Guyos screaming flying wing more known as "AMBULANCE" ).We can compensate by starting flying earlier and as last week end , NIGHT flying !!!! Due to our increasing number we are recommanded to have some flying rools and dicipline. We are all concerned so please send your suggestions ...

Some of you know Rémi from numerous international events, and he is willing to offer his services at AMAZ airfield, including fine-tuning helis and giving private lessons upon request.
I have launched this thread to allow AMAZRC Pilots to discuss the details of this visit and communicate their needs in terms of lessons, heli setups, fine-tuning, etc...
This is a lifetime opportunity so I strongly encourage you to take part in this exceptional event!

After a long time of hesitation and now since a new RC (very popular) website aka Amuzing RC has been created in Lebanon, I decided to positively criticize our beloved amazrc in order to make it better.
The website being administered and content controled and commented on by a single person reminded us with some non popular regimes and their media control.
Note the decreasing popularity of the forums as well as the hits (beside the Week end pics visits).
One proposal would be to leave the weekly posted pics for viewers comments instead of the one coloured biased owner comments (we know them by heart for every single person).
I know this may not sound too welcomed for some pilots but definitely welcomed for the wider spectrum and the survival of this website.
Pilots are pre-classfied as kings, aces, common people and funny chracters. Kings can do multi massive crashes every day (gear included) but their posted shots as well as comments would remind us of the palace poets prasing the king.
The rest of you would be welcoming this thread for sure.
Hope I would be proved wrong and this post would remain alive and uncut, that would be a good sign of life.
Again no matter how much the other website is steeling (in many ways as I heard) from our popularity we should remain faithful to this one so please go ahead and post your comments and suggestions openly.

I would like all to join me in congratulating Avo for the wonderful move he made !!!! " HE DUMPED FUTABA in favor of JR "
He has been using Futaba sinced he started the hobby, and now he finally got convinced that Futaba are junk, unreliable chinese radios with lots of bells and whistles, lots of complexity and lacking heavily in quality, reliability and stability. and the latest news is that Futaba fucked up in every aspect of the 2.4 GHz system.
His 2.4 GHz JR 9303 is expected to arrive soon. Others are also following him but this will remain as a surprise :)

This thread is open as hommage to our late friend Said Khalil (who also calls himself "ACE" and akid thinks he is one). The purpose is to analyze why he left the hobby and to suggest a fairwell party to him as well (at least maybe he would attend it). I believe most of you now have a vague distant memory of his face but he was the one with landing gears issues, propellers, multi crashes and Hip Hop flying between Helis, Planes, Gas and nothing by the end.
I felt this responibility of opening this thread since I feel guilty dragging him to this hobby in the first place.

In this post I want to address 2 main issues that are starting to become a real big problem and a huge source of annoyance and danger at AMAZ !
Take note that all the old AMAZ community agrees on this and please take this seriously into consideration !

Overcrowdedness: Notice that lately it is becoming nearly impossible to breathe at AMAZ airfield not to mention flying ! Everybody is annoyed from this, notice that the Captain barely gets a chance to fly and usually does not fly at all !!! What is the main reason behind this ??? Well, the main reason we agree is the new hobby shops that opened in Lebanon and are using the AMAZ field for all their newly-hatched customers !!! While we all agree that some of those are nice people and they became our friends, this cannot go on and should be cut short immediately !!! The number of new people is growing exponentially whereas the place is limited, originally it is a private strip property of Dr. Borgi and not a model club open to everybody. The Captain being the nice person he is will never ever say anything to stop this and will always welcome everybody but this does not mean that deep inside he likes what is happening and we urge you to take action and stop this immediately !!! The worst part of it is that some of those “customers” are NOT NICE at all and actually are very annoying, irritating, rude, impolite, ill mannered and lack basic behavioral education like that guy last Saturday who had the nerve to open my fieldbox, take and use whatever he needed without asking permission and I don’t even know him and had never seen him, with such people we will soon start having cases of robbery on the field !!! We urge those who brought such people to the field in the first place, to ask them not to show up there anymore !!!

Safety: All those newcomers started to pose a real risk to our lives and property, only within the past couple of weeks we have had a couple of direct hits on our sitting area and near misses from newcomers !!! Imagine what could be the end result, it can easily be death !!! Later that could escalate to real problems on a higher level !!!! Nobody seems to care or understand this !!!
The solution should involve several steps:
1- As of Saturday July 25, 2009 nobody is allowed to fly at AMAZ unless he has or has already applied and paid for insurance ! This Saturday will be the last chance for all those who still do not have an insurance to apply for one(contact Mr. Avedis Tutunjian or call me for info), after that those without an insurance are not welcome and will not be allowed to fly.
2- A strict set of security rules will be put and everybody will have to comply and adhere to the rules. These rules will regulate the way beginners will be flying, test flights of new models have to be supervised by experienced pilots, no-fly zones will be defined, frequencies will be strictly controlled, breaking-in new engines will have to be done before 9:00 am or after dawn and not during the day, starting planes on the bench is strictly forbidden, if 2 people are to fly together they should have agreed on that beforehand, starting/test running engines on the field while somebody is flying without his consent is strictly forbidden, flying will be regulated by turns, everybody will have his own turn and nobody is allowed to go up and fly without a turn, ..and many more…… These rules will be circulated and their implementation will be forced.

We have lost a lot of the old generation pilots due to the above and will soon be losing more if no action is taken and we hope that the contents of this thread will be well circulated among newcomers !

creating this new thread to collect all the comments and inputs about this Saturday to sum it up and to organize things again. Please feel free to write all your comments and suggestions.
The regstered number of pilots this Sat was around 18 + 2 non registered. This resulted in maximum of 3 flights per person (which is too crowded in my opinion), 1 suggestion was to limit the max number of pilots to 12 on saturday (old members counting to around 12) and to accept additional memberships for Sunday.
I am only thinking loud and writing some inputs I have heard on the field this Sat and trying to analyze the data.
Mostly envolved in organizing the turn was Hajj & Dany so there input is very valuable as well.
Next Sat should be only for insured members and whoever the committee would accept for membership.

Can we agree for tomorrow on the follwing:
1- Every pilot arriving to the site should have his Insurance with him or a proof of an insurance request before his name would be cleared for flying.
2- All accepted pilots would register the time they arrived and how many turn they flew along with time as well.
3- EC members would monitor this log to make sure that no overflying is carried and that everyone will have an equal share of stick time by clearing every pilot before taking off.
We can also tomorrow morning print out all the accepted members name who are cleared for Saturday attendance

This thread is for the following
An all day event and possible BBQ at AMAZ, Sunday renovation of the runway!!!!
To make this thread easy, just answer each question at a time....
We are planning for a competition on Saturday and then Saturday night we can BBQ and the next day is dedicated for cleaning/repainting our runway.
After answering each question feel free to add your suggestions....

1-should the competition consist of a pylon race or only limbo?
2- Who should participate?
3- Date and time?
4- Are you coming?
5- What materials do we need for painting the runway? Is there anyone who has a good provider for the materials?

Other details can be agreed upon on the coming weekend, ……

thank you.

Finally got my new Airwild 50cc Edge delivered after all the wild ride she had and since this is my 3rd time going through all this process I came up with some figures that you may benefit from:
In 3 cases the total delivery charges of a 50cc plane is $ 410, $420 and the latest $430.
Only for you to do the Math in case you plan to ask for any new delivery.
I am not sure it make any sense to pay all those charges on anything smaller then a 30% plane!!!

hello i come in need for consultation , im looking for a medium sized plane easy to pilot stable and has a lot of room and capability for cargo and equipment , im a student engineer with a programmer friend with a plan in mind (self project) to make a smart UAV capable of piloting itself around and perform missions(an application of the system would be an aid for jet pilots or inherently non stable planes etc..) we need some suggestions for what plane to use , electric or glow will work , ailerons are a must .

*if anyone has a used plane we might consider that as well .
*more info about the project can be given .

thanks Salaf for all your input :)

Hello again,
As a first lookup to the website, shop, and forum, I have many notes which I will list it down to try making amazrc club website one of the bests rc clubs in the world and helping rc community in Lebanon hopping that the webmaster will not understand it in a bad way:

1- The forum is toooooo basic and miss many new features and have many weaks.
2- There is no Chat section for online users.
3- The Web page is tooo complicated, and this is bad for websites, where main page have to be organized and easy to access.
4- I suggest that each pilot will have his own subdomain you.amazrc.com with Biography, contact, photo and video gallery.
5- Better shop and catalog with many improvements.
6- Arabic version of the website, as we are Arab and should present this and get honored with this.
7- Live show via the net for the meeting and flights you made, I assume that is being done Sunday, via IP camera or recorded.
8- Map to show the directions to reach the club/Airport.
9- Add general section for the forum in the top with new members, ideas, suggestions categories.
10- Arrange flights seminars where introducing people for live shows.
11- Make club membership cards like ID cards.
12- Make competitions for hobbiyist, and may organize Arab Championship if not done yet.
13- Introduce this club to the universities to advertise it and let people know of it, as for me didn't know that you are exist till I saw you in "3ish Beirut" on OTV.

I hope that you accept my notes and taking it into considerations.
However, if the webmaster is unavailable or busy, I am happy to finalize these things within 2-3 working days and put them in a temp ip and when you saw it and decide to use it, will redirect the domain name to this ip and make it to public. And if you accept this, please just tell me and and inform me with websites u like to make amazrc like it.

Hello all, I am PhD post graduate from Gordon University in USA/IL in "Real TIme Interactive Simulation" "3D Graphics Simulation or games design" in other words, with expert skills in programing and researches. Acheived many local and worlwide awards concerning my fields. My dream is from a long time to go in the sky, but I wasn't knowing that this hobby and dream can be handled here in Lebanon due to the politics bad environment, for that I ignored it till I saw you in a TV program on OTV "ish Beirut" and I was so happy to this. And a small note, my brother is professional Microsoft Flightt Simulator user, and as he said, he can flight real planes. I donno.
More info, awards, certifications, skills on my website, which will be ready tonight due to server migration.

Hi Everybody !
This is a very serious matter we should discuss all together and i need a fast feed back . It concerns the future of our hobby .
Many official and non official sources are advising us to form a club . Dr Marwan Saade was kind enough to make some contacts with officials and provided us with documents concerning the way we should proceed to the eventual formation of an official club .
So please i need your opinion about this issue .
The best in my opinion is that we should meet all together or at least representatives to take the decisions and proceed with whatever we decide .
Waiting for you !

Insurance premium/coverage.

Guys, Dr. Marwan Saade contacted the insurance company to negotiate increasing the coverage from $15000 to $30000. They offered us the elevated coverage for a price of $125, ie $50 more than the original $75
We would like to have everybody's opinion/point of view on the above subject.

Dear All,
The Lebanese Air Forces are holding an open day at the Rayak Military Air Base this coming Sunday 23/10/2011. The event starts at 9:45 AM and will include among other things an airshow by the LAF helicopters/planes.
We have been invited by the LAF to display our models, watch the event and we might get the permission to fly for a very limited number of people mainly the Captain, Dany, Marwan and Hady.
We need 2 things:
- More beautiful scale models to place on display.
- People to assist the pilots in case we receive the permission to fly. (model preparation, starting, coordination)
Thus those of you ready to lend a helping hand or those who have beautiful scale models that can be displayed are welcome to join us in this event.
We will be going to Rayak this coming Saturday 22/10/2011 before the event to assemble and prepare the planes and to assess the location. The planes can be left there overnight safely in the hangar.
We will meet on Saturday at 7:30 AM in sehit Bikfaya and then continue together to Rayak.
Those willing to join us are kindly requested to inform us of that here or by phone and list the models you will be taking.

How Not to be Hated at your Flying Field — Tips to stop being Crabby & Grumpy
Jan 24, 2012 No Comments by Model Airplane News

Ok with tongue firmly set in cheek, here are some not so set in stone rules to live by if you want to enjoy the hobby and make friends at the club flying field.

Step one is to keep everything in perspective. Hey man! This is a freakin’ hobby and is suppose to be fun! People don’t need pressure at the flying field, there’s plenty of that in the real world. If you always find yourself compelled to show everyone what you know and point out what they don’t—chances are you’re already one of the hated guys.

The next thing is don’t try to be Joe Cool at the field! Don’t fake it. Being yourself, no matter what pops up is a good plan. Even when you’re not on the flying field.

Remember, neatness counts! No! Your airplane doesn’t have to look like a WRAM show winner, but neither should it look like a leftover from the latest club auction. Try to improve your skills with every noew plane you build and try to make it look as nice as you can. And what your pit area? It shouldn’t be spread all over the place. If you last flew from station 2, why is your radio on the picnic table and your starter box at station 4? Nobody likes a slob!

Watch the clock. Nothing gets people’s dander up more than a sky hog. You know, the guy who just has to take every possible opportunity to be in the air flying his plane. Really unless you are always helping someone learn to fly, this is a sure sign of a lack of common courtesy and a lack of team spirit. Remember, less air time means more face time with other club members.

Reach out! Ok, so you’ve been a member of the club for more years than most other members have been alive. If you don’t want to be viewed as one of the less valuable dinosaurs in the club, try reaching out and help newer members learn the ropes! No, this doesn’t mean yelling at them every time they make a mistake. How about after they land and gather their thoughts, offer them a drink of water and chat a bit about what makes a good (and better,) RC pilot.

Rules for everyone? If you’re the kind of guy that thinks rules apply to everyone else but not to you, then there is a good chance, this whole story is about someone exactly like you. It’s that old “do as I say, not as I do” attitude that trips people up. It’s all about keeping every one safe and increasing that all important fun factor that got everyone into the hobby in the first place.

Try to be socially acceptable. Demonstrate common courtesy and some average social skills. You don’t have to be the life of the party, but when someone comes over and asks a question, don’t just stand there and give ‘em your ”old” one-word answer. You might be happy being the grumpy old guy but it’s not a good plan for helping the club and your hobby grow.

Finally, to really be the least hated guy at the flying field, try working with everyone and give something back to the club before you try to change things. Be a volunteer and help with events that bring some coin into the club. Don’t grumble at all the meetings about what you don’t like. Join in and help make it better by getting involved.
