hello i come in need for consultation , im looking for a medium sized plane easy to pilot stable and has a lot of room and capability for cargo and equipment , im a student engineer with a programmer friend with a plan in mind (self project) to make a smart UAV capable of piloting itself around and perform missions(an application of the system would be an aid for jet pilots or inherently non stable planes etc..) we need some suggestions for what plane to use , electric or glow will work , ailerons are a must .
*if anyone has a used plane we might consider that as well .
*more info about the project can be given .
thanks Salaf for all your input :)

Hi iado ! For your information , the plane you need for your project is a high wing with a .60 engine on it to handle the extra weight you're gona add . Two of our fellow pilots are flying them on our field ( George Eid and Antoine Sfeir ) you should contact them !Concerning your project we do also have a couple of planes equipped with such system . You can get more info from Mr. Fouad Raphaël who's hobby is this ! So good luck with your project

Thanks for the response i will focus my search on the types you mentioned , i actually saw a lot of off the shelf systems for pilot aid and automation ,but none as complex as what we have in mind , the system is all custom made , and it would practically fly the whole mission including takeoff and landing , mock bombing , aerial photography etc.. , not to mention range not limited by visibility nor transmitter range but by the amount of fuel . some of the included extras would be (Pitot for altitude and speed , GPS , XYZ axis sensors , wireless telemetry etc.....

Jado, try to be less presumptuous and more realistic. What you are talking about is theoretically easy but practically takes years of research, testing and fine-tuning and consumes huge amounts of time and funds. I would recommend you focus more on your other courses and not venture into what you are talking about ... Later on when you grow older and have more time, you can play with those things at your leasure. I am not attempting to cut your wings but I want you to come closer to reality, at your age kids fly high ...

1- I'm not a kid + age was never a hinder.
2- as i mentioned ( project not related to studies).
3- being ambitions was never a bad thing in my case.
4- I am actually living in reality and i can elaborate about what i have in mind for hours.
5- your post actually urged me more to try and accomplishing this project.
6- a journey of a thousand miles starts with a baby step , whether i start the project now or later .
7- I'm not speaking of anything larger and tougher than my capabilities .
8- i came here to fill the gap of finding a suitable plane assuming that you are experts (and you are) , and i got wonderful advice about what plane to use .
9- What im talking about is not a dream nor a childhood fantasy but its based on facts , studies , and years of thoughts from my side regarding my hobby .
10- Mr Alexei , i totally understand what you said , that might be based on your experience in advising Lau students , might be based on acquired knowledge . but im nothing like that .
Jado is a childish user name i know , but i have had this account here for some time , and did not feel like making a new one + it cant be changed .
thanks a lot for your input Dr. Pierre , im all ears if anybody else has any input that might help me in what im planning to do , especially in the field of what plane to use (specification of a name and model would be appreciated) .

hi jado,,,
well i agree a bit with what alexy adviced u and he said that for a reason but the problem is that he didn't put his words in a gentle way.
anyhow this is not my point.
the point is that im working on a project just like yours and had put hours and hours on research to know what im gonna use on the plane and finally i narrowed down and now i know what i want and im allready using some of the equipments.....
but my final result is somehow more advanced with autonomus takeoff and landing for sure,,, and u can mange more than 3d 100 waypoints, the plane has pitot and everything needed for calibration during its flight and telemetry readings... can fly autonomous or with user interferance.
the plane can return home in cas soemthing went wrong a system failsafe detector is available.
the ground station is kind of advanced. and does the job in a good way. can't tell in details what it does its kind of my secret hehehhee
but an antenna tracker is also available whic will guide your patches without human interface so the system im working on is kind of complicated and still needs hours of research and testing
my advice to u is to contact me and arrange a meeting and im pretty sure i can answer any question u throw on the table.
oh and my advice to you is not to implement the system don't re invent the whele don't build a circuit from scratch for many reasons.....
have we met before the name kind of rings a bell
i ask god to give people whatever they wish for me

oh and i forgot to tell u that i designed and built my plane from scratch i didn't use any plane from the market...
but if u really want an aftermarket plane to work on it should be something with a high wing , dihedral is a must, and should be more like a planeure
i've seen planes that are made out of foam and they are working ut very good for FPV
i ask god to give people whatever they wish for me

hello Mounir , glad to hear that !
im gonna pop the name Arduino ? if you are familiar with that then our designs are pretty similar
well actually Mounir i have no questions regarding the electrical/mechanical part of the Gizmo , its rather the plane itself ( i don't know what plane to use ) the act of building the plane my self is not wrong , but i don't want to waste time and effort on that , especially that the plane needs to be stable and harness the valuable electronics inside . so id rather it be a well proven castle like design . Im following a CCE major at AUST . Ive seen many foam easy stars flying a UAV system but it seemed flimsy and like a toy ..... A meeting would not be bad

The piper is nice and quite large which is good , but the type of landing it requires (front wheels first) may exclude it . The supper frontier is quite nice . a question from a newbie : what's the risk of installing an even bigger engine ? will the plane tear itself apart ?

Jado we always install a bit bigger engine from 5cc up to 15cc with support for the firewall if needed, about the enginego for 4cycle its strong safe and less fuel than the 2cycle.
this is one of the best plane check it.

Ashinne hol ya Skyguard, killo hayda khantarish, Jado has a super advanced system so why not give it the plane it deserves, I would recommend going with something like the Falcon, http://www.altecare.com/falcon7x.htm , it has plenty of space inside for electronics, it is turbine powered and you can cross the Atlantic with it ! Way to go !

All the parts related to the project will be ordered tonight , including a micro wireless camera , some 3D goggles for live flying , all the parts related to the autopilot , 2 transceivers to communicate live with the plane in midair using a computer and transmit flight data that include the horizon , compass , altitude , speed etc..... i assure you guys are gonna love this . you may laugh as much as you want now but when you see it fly programed flight plans and you experience fly by wire ( the autopilot takes over when you leave the sticks) you will want one in your rig im sure .and an extra function will be that in case the plane lost signal it will return to base safely on its own !

yes its return home .
the "blackbox" will also be there , a log file inside the computer , all events executed by the plane will be saved in text . the system naturally has a pair of transceivers so why not take full advantage ;) besides the system can be infinitely developed by coding so really the sky is the limit

Alexei , can i have the honor of you being the test pilot ? and do some inspections on the plane R/C wise when done ? and if so , can we get the permission of the captain to test it and do its maiden flight in Amaz ? of course if that does not conflict with any rules you have ? , im pretty sure that you guys will have a blast looking at a pilot-less plane "eventually" taking off and landing on its own .

Jado , before ordering your goodies , you should see them in action here . Almost all what you're talking about exist and these airplanes are flying here since 3 or 4 years in Amaz ! As i told you first you should get in touch with our fellow pilots working on this . It will spare you time and money and you can focus on something new or improve what already exist Of course for the permission it is granted and you will be the most welcome any time

Jado among the persons who has worked on such things : Fouad Raphaël , Joe Akl , Hady Mounir etc ... I had the Modis telemetry system done by Robbe but i gave it to a friend ! I may still have an altitude sensor , speed sensor , RPM sensor with an on board Log etc ... But i really don't know exactly where they are

1- SKY RANGER: you have amazing offers but placed in the wrong place, I prefer putting them in a new thred, or better, build a website showing your products, and paste the links here in the site after contacting the webmaster. As Forums threads have to be specific.
2- I taste ofmocker flavor in some replies, I hope that I am wrong, remember guys, mosquitoes have abilities you don't have, so stay objectives in discussions, and remember this quote very well "If you can't do something, don't say that others dreams to do it, just keep away watching them reaching there goals while you are keeping talk". With no offense to anyone, we are here friends and brothers who want to make this hobby better and better, each one by his skills.
Jado: I am so proud of you, as you are keeping suprising me by your works and skills, and especially your humility where you ask for you dont know and learn it, dont just says I know everything, as men in your age have a kind of power dont allow them to say I donno. LOL.
Well, I am thinking to open a new thread and construct a website for our project, and talk clearlt with guys about it. Will discuss this with you by mail at night.
ALLAH bless you all guys, and thx in advanced for any help you will give to us. keep in touch,

Well for a preacher the first thing to be done is to introduce yourself clearly. For a guest politness and humblness are a must and finally for an advisor for already welcomed guest (Sky Ranger) your instructions were too much not in place.
So please if you are an old friend in disguise you made your point and you were mentioned else then that go to point number 1 and keep reading it coz you may be misunderstood.
At the end I excuse myself from Guy who is the owner of this website but too polite to reply.

I already introduced myself to the Captain Pete via mail, and was waiting to get a comfirmation to introduce myself to all of you, However based on ur request, you can check my introduction post here: .
You dont know me man to talk about politness and humblness, however will not waste the time in replying to this, as time is very critical to spend on such things. Right?
And concerning the reply to Sky Ranger, Beleive me I am not talking just to say words, I am talking from proffesionalism in discussing, in forums there is generic rules, posts have to be specific and contain 1 subject for many reasons that I will list them if you want, but as easy as in the life, or academic discussions, it is not good to when u r going to dr. to get advice like jado did when come here, a person enter and ask about selling products, right? that's all, and to sky ranger I think he didnt miss understood me like you did, BTW, I tried o call you many times in the number you mentioned but no signal, I am interested in many things you did proposed.
At the end, will wait professionals feedback too.
Remember that there is no offence in any word.
