Fellow Pilots, Zahle and the Bekaa are hungry for more. Are you ready?
Due to the amazing and overwhelming response to the great show put by you guys few weeks ago, I have been asked by the Kuwait TV representative and Future TV if another show can be arranged in the next few weeks to be covered by these media giants. To elevate the exposure of this great hobby into the international arena, I have promoted the idea to Aljazeera network and Reuters for their coverage as well. I hate to keep bugging you guys, but I thought joining hands again may help promote the hobby further. If you are interested, please let me know asap so I can coordinate with the media representatives and setup a date for the show. If we move forward, we will have a BBQ and lots of beer on the premises (please allow 1.5 hours bottle to throttle). Wind conditions in Zahle have improved, so we may get an all day activity going. This will also include RC cars and trucks for those who might be interested. Thank you in advance and I shall look forward to seeing you soon.

Hi Guys ! We are all concerned about this : as we are overcrowded up there ,we start having noise problems with the neighbourhood ! If we want to keep our only runway , we shouldnt overfly the village and keep our evolutions on the western part of the airfield and observe a stop from 1 to 4 pm .Electric is no problem ( Except Guyos screaming flying wing more known as "AMBULANCE" ).We can compensate by starting flying earlier and as last week end , NIGHT flying !!!! Due to our increasing number we are recommanded to have some flying rools and dicipline. We are all concerned so please send your suggestions ...

Some of you know Rémi from numerous international events, and he is willing to offer his services at AMAZ airfield, including fine-tuning helis and giving private lessons upon request.
I have launched this thread to allow AMAZRC Pilots to discuss the details of this visit and communicate their needs in terms of lessons, heli setups, fine-tuning, etc...
This is a lifetime opportunity so I strongly encourage you to take part in this exceptional event!

After a long time of hesitation and now since a new RC (very popular) website aka Amuzing RC has been created in Lebanon, I decided to positively criticize our beloved amazrc in order to make it better.
The website being administered and content controled and commented on by a single person reminded us with some non popular regimes and their media control.
Note the decreasing popularity of the forums as well as the hits (beside the Week end pics visits).
One proposal would be to leave the weekly posted pics for viewers comments instead of the one coloured biased owner comments (we know them by heart for every single person).
I know this may not sound too welcomed for some pilots but definitely welcomed for the wider spectrum and the survival of this website.
Pilots are pre-classfied as kings, aces, common people and funny chracters. Kings can do multi massive crashes every day (gear included) but their posted shots as well as comments would remind us of the palace poets prasing the king.
The rest of you would be welcoming this thread for sure.
Hope I would be proved wrong and this post would remain alive and uncut, that would be a good sign of life.
Again no matter how much the other website is steeling (in many ways as I heard) from our popularity we should remain faithful to this one so please go ahead and post your comments and suggestions openly.

I would like all to join me in congratulating Avo for the wonderful move he made !!!! " HE DUMPED FUTABA in favor of JR "
He has been using Futaba sinced he started the hobby, and now he finally got convinced that Futaba are junk, unreliable chinese radios with lots of bells and whistles, lots of complexity and lacking heavily in quality, reliability and stability. and the latest news is that Futaba fucked up in every aspect of the 2.4 GHz system.
His 2.4 GHz JR 9303 is expected to arrive soon. Others are also following him but this will remain as a surprise :)

Flying in Amaz Germany,

Hello my friends. Let me tell you, what it is like flying over here in Bayreuth.

Firstly, I do miss my Amaz family, I miss the curiosity every morning on a Saturday or Sunday who is already at the field when I make the turn from the road into the Amaz wilderness. Your kind comments on some of my pictures do me well.

As you may remember over here I was what we called a “Wild Pilot” meaning not flying at a regular airfield, not associated to a regular club. Instead, going out in the “wilderness” and fly on some open farm ground, meadows etc. I did the same again, after I returned. However, after the 2nd flight I stopped, because I missed the company of others. So I packed my stuff, drove to the northern part of Bayreuth where we have a club, a licensed airfield and joined the local club right away.

Amaz Germany is located on one of these rolling hills that are so characteristic for the landscape of northern Bavaria. Overlooking the city of Bayreuth to the south, the panorama is quite nice. To the east we have among others the highest elevation, the mountain “Ochsenkopf” at roughly 1200m. And all around you can enjoy the rolling hills of northern Frankonia, as the area is also called after the tribe of the Frankonians.

Up until now we have snow on the airfield, which limits operations to the access road, which is cleared by the municipal snow plough. First thing I had to learn was parking. No wild parking, however almost like in a parade, park your car nicely aligned with the others. Ok, no problem.

Security and noise emission is a big issue. The airfield is licensed by a state authority that also licenses commercial airfields. As you may remember, Germans organize almost everything, often too much, in a law. Therefore model flying has some tight rules:
- a security coordinator is named each day
- no overflying of people
- security perimeter around the parking lots (keep way at least 25 m)
- noise emission certificates required for all fuel driven aircrafts
- clearly outlined airspace, electrics have a different area that the fuel driven aircrafts and with regard to noise and possible crashes you must not leave that airspace
- frequency coordination, i.e. every pilot has a named sticker with his frequency that he puts on a board the minute he shows up at the field
- flight documentation in a flight log of the field, you list your flight time, your models, the frequency, arrival and departure

The field is an ideal place to fly, lots of open space surrounding the concrete runway, thus giving you a lots of recovery options once your approaches are not so best etc. It’s a short cut grass area.

I first had to adjust my flying to the new landmarks understanding how far, how low and how high I can fly. Obviously I missed the extra security altitude the valleys surrounding Amaz give you. It’s just the close ground, like in Hamat.

Biggest change and problem, however, has been the weather and the visibility of your aircraft. Mostly overcast, grey clouds all the time, hardly blue skies. Oh, how I miss Amaz blue skies!

Secondly, listen Guy, flying at zero or even sub zero degrees ain’t fun. Many protect their remote controls with special shielding. I got me some gloves and only cut pen the thumbs, but boy, with a chilling wind this is something! Wearing extra clothing is quite helpful to not cool down to ice ;-)

Support and service on the field is excellent. We have a small hut that you guys would love: There is a bar (no drinking and flying though) !

Lots of tables and chairs inside, a heating keeps it warm, we have electricity, water, toilet, land line based telephone, a PC to do you math or calculation, large chargers for the electric community. You just need to take your balancer with you.

The pilots are kind and dedicated, however, I haven’t seen so many compared to Amaz. Nobody puts ski on the skids, however they use the access road or “jump start”. The Fuel guys don’t show up, in winter mostly everybody is electric. Obviously they hate the extra adjustment of the engines for the cold environment. So be it …

Sunday is the big day, not Saturday. However, there are always 3-4 senior members that only show up for a chat and about 5 pilots. They tell me once the weather gets better, some more will show up. Anyway, once you battle the cold you have enough opportunities to log you flight time. There are far less helicopter guys than in Amaz and some eyes popped out as I showed up with my equipment, the bags, the tool box, the aluminium cases for the helis etc., the chargers …

Right now, on a Saturday morning I am annoyed again by the weather. There is a large depression zone crossing the country sending out clouds of rain spiralling and giving us some drizzle rain right now, more heavier rain , even snow later during the day and Sunday doesn’t look good either. Temperatures will be around -2 in the nite and at most 4-6 during the days. Looking at the Beirut weather forecast drives tears into my eyes …

I’ll be back in paradise end of April and look forward to spending the weekends of 2-3, 9-10 and 16th of May. Oh yes, and the kissing. They don’t do it over here, however I know a fine place where …
